BYOT
Brauer College is a BYOT school with the introduction of the program at Year 7 in 2013 and whole school in 2014.
We are happy for students to bring any device with WiFi capability and a minimum 10in screen. Android devices are discouraged due to difficulty with connections to the department internet however we will attempt to connect any device. Allowing students to bring their preferred device gives them the opportunity to work confidently in the classroom on a device they are familiar with.
Students are expected to know how to manage their own device as staff are not expected to be experts in all the different options. We have a very strong and competent IT support staff who are able to assist students in this area if need be.
Students are required to have an office suite on their device however this can be free software such as Open Office or Libra Office or they can use Google Drive. Students on iPads are required to have Pages.
In the classroom, students are free to use whichever format they prefer for creating their work and are encouraged to try different programs (device specific). Unless a particular program is available across all platforms, staff will not specify the use of a specific program.

Boot Camp
Boot Camp is a training session for new Year 7 students, where they spend time with device specific coaches (teachers and IT staff) to ensure they are able to connect to the College network and navigate their way around Launchpad. This ensures they are able to start successfully in the classroom and participate fully in their learning programs.

The Brauer College Lunchpad enables students, teachers, parents and the wider community easy access to all the digital features of the College.
The Launchpad can be accessed directly or from the College website and has both generic links and links specific to different user groups which are password protected. |
Web 2.0 Tools Link
This link on the home page gives direct access for staff and students, to websites that are specific tools for the four different areas of Collaboration, Thinking, Presentation and Feedback. Most of these are collaborative sites where more than one person can contribute to the work.
